2024's macabre sleeper hit, Buckshot Roulette, is 40% off on Steam right now for a limited time. It's available at its lowest recorded price of $1.79, a steal for the many hours of replayability. It currently sits on an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam.

Buckshot Roulette is a strange portmanteau of a sinister Russian Roulette mixed with turn-based roguelike mechanics, all set in a surreal and creepy environment filled with mysterious denizens in what appears to be an otherworldly nightclub.

You begin the game in a dirty, dichromatic bathroom, walk out the door, and start the game by talking to "the Dealer," who has you sign a waiver. Buckshot Roulette is a pretty short game; a single run will last you anywhere between 15 and 20 minutes of intense short bursts, and then it's back to the bathroom again.

Gameplay

Each run consists of three games between you and the Dealer. Like an actual Russian Roulette, you aim a gun at your head on every turn, gambling to see if it's a blank or a live round. If it's a live round, you take damage and continue to the next.

To help you improve your chances, you are given some random items at the beginning of each round, such as a one-use magnifying glass that allows you to peek at the current round inside the gun, or a saw that doubles the damage dealt to you or the Dealer.

Then there is a burner cellphone that gives you a hint or a beer can that allows you to eject one round. It's this strange 50/50 gameplay that makes each round addictive. You are constantly gambling, trying your best to use each item to your advantage while knowing it can also backfire on you.

There is also a multiplayer mode for up to 4 players with unique, exclusive items of its own, which increases the replayability of Buckshot Roulette even more.

Once you finish the story mode and try your luck in multiplayer, you can then tackle a Double or Nothing mode, where you can choose to gamble your winnings on another three rounds. If you lose, you start at the beginning with nothing.

User Reviews

The game currently has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam with 96% of 29,000+ reviews skewing positive. Players praise the addictive gameplay, the immersive and gritty atmosphere, and the great industrial soundtrack.

A few negative reviews highlight some bugs and crashes with the multiplayer mode.

Buckshot Roulette is currently 40% off on Steam, and according to SteamDB, it is available for its lowest recorded price of just $1.79. The deal lasts until September 22, 2025.
