Hades needs no introduction. First released in full back in September 2020 after a successful early access period, Supergiant Games’ roguelike went on to become one of the most celebrated titles of its generation. It has tight combat, a very replay-friendly design, and sharp writing based on Greek mythology. Within months, it was showered with multiple Game of the Year awards and reached millions of players across PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. Over the years it has stayed relevant, not just as a (high) benchmark for indie games, but as one of the few roguelikes to truly break into the mainstream.
Right now, the game is on a weekend Steam deal at 75% off - that brings the US price down to about $6.24, with similar discounts in many regions. The Steam sale is flagged as a weekend deal, and the store page shows the offer ends 25 September. If you prefer a quick buy, Steam is the simplest route while the discount runs. Price trackers like SteamDB also register this as Hades’s all-time low on Steam.
Other storefronts aren’t matching Steam’s cut. The Epic Games Store currently lists the base price without the 75% markdown, and Hades isn’t widely available on GOG as a direct sale entry right now. If you want the cheapest immediate option, Steam is the one to watch.
Why the timing? Supergiant is preparing to launch Hades II (full 1.0) on 25 September; publishers often discount the original around a sequel’s release to attract new players. This lines up neatly with that push. And in case you were wondering, the game has 284,000+ reviews as of writing - and a whopping 98% of them are in favor - pushing the aggregate to "Overwhelmingly Positive".
Plus, Hades is Steam Deck (curr. $757 on Amazon) verified and runs well on handheld hardware, so it’s a good buy if you play away from your PC. You can check it out here.
