Apple is said to be developing two touchscreen devices that will serve as a control center for the smart home. Based on homeOS, these smart home displays will reportedly also support calendar and notes apps, according to the latest rumors from a reliable source.

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is currently developing two smart home screens. One of these is a more expensive device, known by the model number "J595", which expected to cost over $1,000. This device is supposed to mount a display in the format of an Apple iPad Pro on a motorized robotic arm so that the screen can be automatically aligned in the direction of the user.

The cheaper device, codenamed "J490", is expected to be launched onto the market early next year. According to earlier rumors, this model uses the Apple A18 ARM chip, which is already known from the Apple iPhone 16, as well as an almost square touchscreen. According to Bloomberg, both smart home devices will have homeOS, which Apple is developing on the basis of tvOS. The software will support AI features, which will be marketed under the typical "Apple Intelligence" branding.

The cheaper of the two devices will support apps such as Calendar, Notes and Apple Home, while the user interface will be optimized for quick control of smart home devices and the clear display of associated information. According to earlier rumors, the smart home display can also carry out video calls via FaceTime and play videos and music, which can also be transferred wirelessly from an iPhone, iPad or Mac via Apple AirPlay. According to Bloomberg, Apple is currently testing a design that allows the display to be magnetically attached to a wall.
