For many, gaming nostalgia begins with one of these iconic PlayStation classics: Tomb Raider, Spyro the Dragon or Crash Bandicoot. If you’re eager to revisit these beloved titles in revamped editions, now’s the perfect time. All three are available at steep discounts in the Nintendo eShop until December 3.
Tomb Raider
Originally released in 1996 for Sega Saturn, PlayStation and PC, Tomb Raider is regarded as one of the pioneering 3D action-adventure games. Players step into the role of archaeologist Lara Croft, embarking on global expeditions to uncover ancient artifacts. These adventures take place in vast, maze-like levels set in mystical locations such as ancient temples, shadowy caves and crumbling ruins. Along the way, players face challenges like solving intricate puzzles, navigating treacherous obstacles and fending off wild animals and adversaries.
Five Tomb Raider titles were launched on the PlayStation 1, and the first three have been re-released for the Nintendo Switch as enhanced remasters. Normally priced at $30, the collection is currently available at a 25% discount, bringing the cost down to $22.50.
Spyro the Dragon
Spyro the Dragon is one of the most iconic 3D platform games of the late 90s. In the role of the young dragon Spyro, players travel through colorful open worlds to rescue stolen dragon friends and save the realm from the evil Gnasty Gnorc. To do so, players must skillfully jump, glide and defeat enemies with Spyro's fire breath.
The first three Spyro games, which were released on the PlayStation between 1998 and 2000, were combined in the "Spyro Reignited Trilogy" and brought to modern consoles with revised graphics and improved controls. The collection normally costs around $40. On the occasion of the Black Friday Weeks, however, Nintendo is offering a whopping 60 percent discount, making the game available for just $16.
Crash Bandicoot
Released for the PlayStation in 1996, Crash Bandicoot set a new benchmark for 3D platformers. Players guide the mischievous marsupial through perilous levels to thwart the evil Dr. Neo Cortex and his nefarious plans for world domination. The game’s dynamic perspectives keep the experience fresh - some levels feature classic side-scrolling gameplay, while others offer a third-person view as Crash leaps across platforms.
The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy brings together the original three games, now enhanced with upgraded graphics and refined controls. Typically priced at $40, the collection is currently available for just $16, thanks to a generous 60% discount.
