Heroes of Science and Fiction takes the classic Heroes of Might and Magic formula and transports it into a colorful sci-fi universe filled with space pirates and cybernetic moles. Just a few months after its 1.0 launch, the 90%-rated turn-based strategy game is available on Steam at its first-ever 60% discount, bringing the price down to around $12.

Heroes of Might and Magic is widely regarded as one of the greatest turn-based strategy series ever made. If you've grown tired of its medieval fantasy setting, Steam currently offers an interesting sci-fi alternative at a bargain price. Heroes of Science and Fiction – the name says it all – is a science-fiction homage to the genre classic. Released in version 1.0 only in March 2026, the game is now available on Steam for around $12 instead of $30 thanks to a 60% discount. According to SteamDB, this is the first time the game has been discounted by more than 50%.

In terms of gameplay, Heroes of Science and Fiction adopts nearly all of the core mechanics of its famous inspiration. Players explore the map in turn-based fashion, gather resources, capture mines, expand their bases, and assemble powerful armies. When opposing forces meet, battles unfold on a separate tactical hex-grid battlefield. Instead of knights, wizards, and mythical creatures, however, players command space pirates, religious insects, and cybernetic moles. The game is set in the Siren star system, a remote region cut off from the rest of the galaxy.

Steam players who have tried it have embraced this sci-fi spin on the classic Heroes formula. Reviews frequently praise the game's fast-paced gameplay and its five distinct factions, each featuring unique bases, special abilities, and commanders. The AI, however, is often cited as an area that still needs improvement compared to the original series. Even so, around 900 Steam reviews currently give the game a 90% positive rating. Thanks to its Steam Deck Verified status, the deal is also worth considering for handheld gamers.
