BenQ is offering a new model under the Zowie gaming brand that has an uncompromisingly high refresh rate, namely an impressive 540 Hz. It is thus likely aimed at professional e-athletes who need need the ultimate speed advantage when competing, even in fast games - or at least think they do. This claim to professional gaming is reinforced by the monitor bezels, although these are only mounted on the left and right side of the monitor.
The monitor uses a TN panel: the typical contrast ratio is given as 1,000:1 and the brightness as 320 cd/m². The resolution is 1920x 1080 pixels - such a low resolution is usually necessary anyway in order to be able to display video games extremely fluidly. This high refresh rate can only be reached on a PC via DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1; the monitor can be used on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. Three HDMI 2.1 connections and one DisplayPort 1.4 are installed.
An audio output is available, but other features such as a USB hub are completely missing. The height of the screen can be to be adjusted particularly precisely and a height chart is also available. The monitor parameters are controlled via an extra controller and there are also various modes, such as playing films or maximum FPS.
The model can now be pre-ordered in the US at a price of $599. The launch in the EU is scheduled for February.
