Battlefield 6 Season 3: New update brings two classic maps and ranked mode

The new Season 3 for Battlefield 6 is divided into three phases and is live now. At the start of the first phase, called Warlords: Overmatch, the developers are adding the largest map yet to the shooter. Golmud Railway is a reinterpretation of the Battlefield 4 classic. The map now offers greater elevation changes, expanded flanking routes, more airspace and a functioning railway line with a moving train.
The first phase also marks the start of official ranked play. For now, this competitive mode is only available for Battle Royale Quads in Redsec. The system ranges from Rookie to Master rank. The top 250 players worldwide receive an exclusive emblem. Points are awarded for kills, assists and match placement.
On June 9, the second phase of Battlefield 6 Season 3 follows under the name Shockwave. This marks the comeback of Grand Bazaar, a remake of the Battlefield 3 map Grand Bazaar. At the same time, Electronic Arts is bringing back the Obliteration mode. The 32v32 battles are now intended to play out much more strategically. A smaller 8v8 variant called Tactical Obliteration will follow later.
In the official trailers for the new season, the backstory continues in dramatic fashion. The command structure of the enemy Pac faction has completely collapsed. Instead, brutal warlords have taken control and are causing total chaos, especially on the streets of Cairo. Players take on the role of the Dagger special unit, which has strict orders to break through these enemy lines and eliminate the warlords for good.
The accompanying gameplay trailer already gives a strong impression of what the community can expect in the new matches. The presentation is extremely fast-paced and captures the typical Battlefield feel perfectly. Helicopters drop troops directly into heated firefights, while armored vehicles and well-positioned snipers put enemy cover under heavy fire. On Golmud Railway, a heavily armed train also races across the combat zone, creating entirely new tactical possibilities and explosive situations. The destructible environment appears to be even more of a focus in Season 3, with entire building facades collapsing under fire from heavy weapons.
The third phase, High-Value Target, concludes the rollout on June 30. This is when casual battle royale and the season's first collection event begin. Players have to complete assignments to unlock cosmetic items and a new melee weapon. A new Battle Pass, additional weapons and a portable jammer round out the update for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
