Bang & Olufsen announce partnership with MS on Xbox Series X for high-end audio

One of the recent developments in gaming is that there is a undoubtedly a segment of the gaming market that appreciates high-quality audio, whether it is in the headsets gamers wear or in the speaker and other audio components integrated into their gaming set ups. Sensing an opportunity, Danish high-end audio brand Bang & Olufsen has announced a new partnership with Microsoft to coincide with the launch of its next-generation Xbox gaming consoles due later this year.

B&O VP and Head of Product Management Christoffer Poulsen had this to say on the new deal:

The technology has advanced significantly in gaming and enhancing the sound experience offers a place for us to play a key role. By entering the gaming industry, we want to do what we do best: delivering outstanding sound performance wrapped in astonishing design and solid craftmanship. We see a big commercial potential within gaming, and in Xbox we believe we have found the ideal partner to realise that potential.

Although B&O hasn’t explicitly stated what it will be producing for devices like the new Xbox Series X, it seems reasonable to expect at least one set of high-end gaming headphones with mic and possibly even a set of speakers or a sound bar. Depending on the success of the endeavor, it is even possible that B&O could also come up with a combined audio-visual solution as it is also known for its high-end Beovision TVs with integrated high-end audio. Either way, it is exciting to see a new entrant into the gaming space.
