The Ayaneo Pocket Play is a new gaming smartphone inspired by the Sony Xperia Play. Scheduled for release in 2026, Ayaneo has now provided technical details of the display and also opened a Kickstarter page.

The Pocket Play is Ayaneo's upcoming gaming smartphone. It will launch as the first smartphone from a brand that has made a name for itself with its Android-powered gaming handhelds. Ayaneo has now provided additional details of the phone, which takes inspiration from the Sony Xperia Play.

After a design reveal a few weeks ago, Ayaneo has revealed important details about the gaming phone's display. According to a poster shared on its social media channels, the Ayaneo Pocket Play will have a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution. The display is a tad larger than that of the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro, but the resolution is the same.

As is expected of a gaming smartphone, the Ayaneo Pocket Play has a high refresh rate — 165Hz to be precise. This gives it an edge over the RedMagic 11 Pro (available on Amazon.de for €829), which has a 144Hz refresh rate.

In addition to the display parameters, Ayaneo has also shared an image of the phone in use, and it reveals an interesting detail. As can be seen in the image below, the Ayaneo Pocket Play is shown to have a pretty thick chin in comparison to current smartphones. The Image also shows that the display doesn't have a punch hole for the front facing camera. Instead, Ayaneo has opted for a thick top bezel that houses the camera and speaker.

While the Pocket Play is not expected to launch until next year, Ayaneo has created a Kickstarter page for the gaming smartphone. This shouldn't be surprising, as Ayaneo's modus operandi has always been to crowdfund for its devices. The campaign isn't live yet, but should be soon.

Apart from a smartphone, Ayaneo also has a gaming tablet called the Ayaneo Gaming Pad in development. However, it hasn't revealed details about the device in a while.
