A new Geekbench run for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has shown how well the device can perform with help from its overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Galaxy S23 Ultra variant in this latest benchmark features 8 GB of RAM, with a 12 GB model also expected to be part of the lineup.

Geekbench appearances for a Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-S918B, better known as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, have been turning up since November, with the single-core score often hovering around the healthy mark of 1,500 points (with a few outliers). But there have been some concerns raised about the S23 Ultra’s multi-core score, which has mostly been around the mid-4,000s with one sample hitting 5,000 points. As pointed out by leaker Ice universe, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered smartphone such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra should be producing higher multi-core scores.

However, it looks like the tipster can relax as it appears Samsung is still tweaking the software for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The latest Geekbench results for the 8 GB variant of the 2023 flagship smartphone reveal a typical single-core score of 1,566 points and an improved multi-core score of 5,179 points. This latter mark is a full +10.45% ahead of the S23 Ultra multi-core benchmark we reported on back in November, and it is in the same ballpark as multi-core figures produced by other Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones, as once again highlighted by Ice universe.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is, of course, assisted by what seems to be an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. While Qualcomm advertises the peak prime core rate at 3.2 GHz, apparently it can be augmented to allow for slightly greater performance levels. This particular Galaxy S23 Ultra Geekbench run reveals a maximum frequency rate of 3.342 GHz, with even the recorded average clock of 3.225 GHz exceeding the advertised peak rate. Now it just remains to be seen if Geekbench will eventually banish the Galaxy S23 range from its charts in the same way as it has delisted many other flagship Samsung smartphones for perceived benchmark manipulation.
