Asus completely reworked its Zenbook Duo and the result is the best dual-screen convertible on the market. The hinge was improved, there are new OLED screens with improved brightness, a much bigger battery and a further improved keyboard. And then there is also Panther Lake.

The Asus Zenbook has been one of the most interesting dual-screen convertibles for the last couple of years and we recently reviewed the latest model Zenbook Duo UX8407. It offers plenty of improvements and we are not even talking about the new Intel Panther Lake processor. The manufacturer consequently fixed some weaknesses of the previous model and also improved other aspects.

This starts with the basic design, and the main aspect is the redesigned hinge. Thanks to the new construction, the gap between the two screens is now much smaller than before, which makes a huge difference especially in desktop mode. Thanks to the new hinge and the slightly revised kickstand design, the convertible is now more stable in this mode, which was one aspect we criticized before.

Other aspects have been improved as well. The battery is now much bigger (99 Wh instead of 75 Wh), which results in very long battery runtimes, even if you use both displays. The keyboard was further improved as well: The key travel is now 1.7 mm and the removable keyboard is extremely sturdy, so the typing experience is very comfortable (even better than most laptops), both when you use it on the device or when it is detached. The two OLED screens were further improved as well. All 2026 Zenbook Duo models are equipped with the same high-resolution 144 Hz touchscreen with improved brightness (~500 nits SDR, up to 1,000 nits HDR) and the image quality is excellent. This is a huge advantage, because you can easily shift contents between the two screens without any changes to the image quality.

Considering the hardware and the quality, the size of the Zenbook Duo (slightly bulkier than the previous model) and especially the lower weight are very good. However, it only makes sense if you can really utilize the two screens. Regular laptops with a single screen and similar performance figures are much slimmer and noticeably lighter, which is obviously not surprising. If you can make use of the Zenbook Duo's versatility, though, you get a really good overall package without any serious issues.

All these things would already be enough, but then there is also the new Intel Panther Lake processor. It offers good performance figures, especially in combination with the slower performance profiles. This means you get plenty of performance for everyday tasks without being distracted by the fan noise. Please see our comprehensive review for more information including all benchmark results.
