When we reviewed the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX581, we noted how useful the dual-screen experience can be despite the laptop itself having some quirks. Two years later, at CES 2021, Asus is offering a refreshed ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 featuring Intel Comet Lake-H and NVIDIA Ampere mobile graphics.
The main USP of the ZenBook Pro Duo is the dual-screen setup that allows for enhanced multitasking. One of our gripes with the previous generation was the use of an IPS panel for the ScreenPad while the main OLED touch panel itself was pretty good. It looks like Asus will continue to offer an IPS ScreenPad this year as well. Asus has improved the ScreenPad's functionality by adding dedicated controls for Adobe apps.
Both the 15-inch primary display and the 14-inch ScreenPad Plus are UHD panels. Asus said the OLED panel is Pantone-validated and can cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. We expect Asus would have ironed some of the inconveniences with the previous generation of the ScreenPad. In any case, we will be knowing more once we have the device on our hands.
Other include Wi-Fi 6, 2x Thunderbolt 3 ports, a Harmon Kardon-certified audio system, and an 8-cell 92 WHr battery.
The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX582 will be available from April in North America. Pricing information will be disclosed at a later date.
