Asus' best bet against the Dell XPS 15 is on sale this week for $1180 USD on B&H. When considering the original launch price of $1400 to $1600, the price cut is definitely a lot more competitive in the flagship 15.6-inch space. The deal is particularly notable because it is the latest model from Asus and not just an older or outdated SKU that we see far too often.
The ZenBook UX533FD is unique for its very high screen-to-body ratio and subsequently low weight of just 1.67 kg versus the heavier 2.01 kg XPS 15 9570. Asus even managed to fit in a dedicated GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q GPU for 1080p gaming at respectable frame rates and settings. The MIL-STD 810G-certified system shares the same chassis design and ErgoLift features as its smaller 14-inch ZenBook 14 UX433 and 13.3-inch ZenBook 13 UX333 siblings.
Important limitations to keep in mind are its 15 W ULV CPU and maximum display resolution of 1080p. In contrast, the XPS 15 ships with more powerful 45 W Intel H-Series CPUs, faster GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q graphics, and a 4K UHD touchscreen. Such a configuration will cost a few hundred dollars more as well.
