Reviews for the Asus TUF Dash 15 FX517ZM-AS73

The TUF Dash F15 is not the fastest performing laptop for its configuration (so far that’s the Dell G16), but it’s not far behind. It keeps most of the performance while shaving off a lot of weight and thickness. Especially if you see this beast on sale, you will get a lot out of this sleek, adaptable package—although it retails for $1,300, you can customize performance with features normally reserved for higher-end models. At the same time, there are a few things holding the Dash F15 back. Its mediocre base screen, webcam, and audio feel inappropriate for a laptop this expensive. If you’re after the best performance possible, the Dell G16 and Asus ROG Strix G15 AMD Advantage blow the TUF Dash F15 away and have bright, vivid screens with 100% sRGB color coverage. If you’re after a highly mobile gaming laptop, the all-AMD Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a much more compact machine with better performance, a much better display, and nine hours of battery life. Ultimately, the TUF Dash F15 is a good choice if you want to spend $1,500 or less on a gaming laptop, with acceptable performance and features across the board (even if none are outstanding). It’s notably far improved over its predecessor, the Dash A15, and it offers a unique combination of ergonomics, portability, and flexibility that are tricky to nail at this price point.

The Asus TUF Dash F15 is a strong gaming laptop for gamers who are willing to spend a little more for that edge. The graphics card does its job and the screen looks nice, but some software issues and odd port placement hold this laptop back from true greatness.

The TUF Dash is Asus's most affordable all-purpose/gaming laptop series at this point, and a lot more powerful than the previous generation in this 2022 update. It's still a thinner and lighter alternative for the full-size TUF Gaming models, and is still an Intel-exclusive design, but it is a balanced performer and competitively priced in most regions, thus an option to consider if you're shopping on a lower budget. Just be careful about that FHD 144Hz screen option and aim for a configuration with the FHD 300Hz display, if available in your area.

Asus once again delivers a portable, nice-looking and super-powerful midrange gaming laptop without going too hard on your pockets. The Asus TUF Dash 15 expertly balanced performance, practicality, and value. Again, its Alder Lake Core i7 processor offers more performance cores than its predecessor, giving you more pep for the latest AAA games when paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 mobile GPU. The Dash TUF 15 is inherently practical with its comfortable keyboard and superb battery life. That said, its gaming performance is only status quo with its last-generation gaming notebooks since its GPU is cast to a low power level, from what we’re seeing in the early run, not all RTX 3060 notebooks are created equal. At least this runs relatively cool and quiet. The FX517ZM-AS73 will play the latest titles at high settings, but Asus hasn’t fully solved the performance conundrum of a slim gaming laptop with the Dash 15. It performs similarly to the Acer Predator Helios 300 with a 10th gen Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia’s RTX 3060 graphics card.

To summarize this review, we must say that not only does this ASUS TUF 3060 laptop look great with its metal chassis, but it is also a beast machine as well. With the new 12th Gen Intel i7-12650H CPU and RTX 3060 GPU, this machine delivers the performance for gaming and demanding PC work. The 16GB memory out of the box, the military-grade design, 144Hz IPS display, and other specifications make this 2022 TUF Dash 15 FX517ZM-AS73 the best package you can probably find at this price point.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
