Reviews for the Asus Strix Scar 17 G732LXS-HG104T

With its large screen with a high refresh rate and powerful internals, we see the ROG Strix Scar 17 G732LXS-HG086TS as the laptop for users who are looking for something to replace their desktop with a more mobile machine. It even allows the user a certain degree of control if you want to tinker and maximize its performance. It’s not the sleekest laptop around, but it’s definitely a performer. Lastly, at PHP 219,995 (17″ FHD IPS 300HZ / i9-10980HK / 32GB RAM 1TB x2 PCIe SSD / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER / Win10 ), it’s expensive, yes, but the performance and the included bundles, makes it worthwhile.

Just like the company’s top-end ROG Zephyrus Duo though, we don’t know how much the SCAR 17 will be when it finally arrives in the Philippines, or if it’ll arrive as scheduled because of the worldwide pandemic.

Other mod-cons include a backlit per-key RGB backlit Chiclet style keyboard, WiFi 6 (Gig+) (802.11ax) support augmented by ROG’s RangeBoost tech for stronger signal strength, Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity and a rather nifty unique underglow light bar that wraps all around the base of the laptop that can be customisable in the ROG Aura Creator application bundled with the laptop.

i9-10980HK: On Comet Lake architecture based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates eight processor cores clocked at 3.1 - 5 GHz that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++). At the time of announcement, the i9-10980HK is the fastest Comet Lake-H CPU and fastest laptop CPU on the market. Thanks to the free multiplicator, the CPU can also be easily overclocked (but may not have much headroom).» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.9 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
