The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 GU606 2026 doesn’t seem like a huge update over the previous G16 generations at first glance. However, it is an overall more versatile offer in its premium portable segment of 16-inch all-purpose notebooks. The main selling points adding up to this refresh are the brighter OLED display, the updated cooling module and the versatility of the Intel Panther Lake hardware that offers improved efficiency, which translates in longer runtimes and potentially more comfortable general experience when looking to balance out noise, thermals and capabilities. Too bad 2026 laptop tech is so darn expensive, though.

Oh, how I'd love to give the 2026 G16 a higher score. It really is a fantastic machine, and very difficult not to like. But at its current price, it simply doesn't make a whole lot of sense. When the already-price-inflated Razer Blade 16 is hundreds of dollars cheaper in virtually the same spec, the little Asus becomes difficult to argue for—although perhaps future discounts might bring it back into contention.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 is often one of our favorite gaming laptops, however we were rather disappointed by the 2025 model thanks to its high price tag, sub-par keyboard, and grim battery life. The 2026 model does fix the battery life issue, but it still suffers from the same lackluster keyboard and heavy proprietary power brick as last year’s model.

Rs 4,99,990 for the RTX 5070 Ti with 32GB of LPDDR5X and a 2TB drive, is an enormous amount of money. There is no framing that makes that number comfortable. If what you want is a gaming laptop, look one shelf down. A thicker ROG Strix with the same class of GPU will give you more frames for a great deal less—and the extra weight will not trouble you at all if the machine lives on a desk. For most people, one laptop has always been enough, and it still is. But if you have spent the last few years carrying one machine to work and keeping another at home for everything else, the Zephyrus G16 is where that stops.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2026) is the kind of laptop that makes a fantastic first impression and somehow keeps getting better the longer you use it. From the gorgeous OLED display and powerful speakers to the premium build quality and impressive portability, it's one of the rare machines that feels equally at home rendering videos, crushing deadlines, or running the latest AAA games. The asking price remains steep, though ASUS does soften the blow with offers such as instant discounts, no-cost EMI options for up to 18 months starting at Rs. 11,111 per month, and extended warranty plans. While these won't make the laptop any cheaper, they do make stepping into ASUS' flagship ecosystem a little easier on the wallet.

Look, there are cheaper versions of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 available, with available storage being the major factor. We just happened to test the monster version. This performance is possible at around R75,000, if you’re trying to justify your ‘budget’. Only one of those is likely to turn the heads of folks who know what you’re travelling in. The GU606AX version of Asus’ G16 is… pretty much the same thing, without the bespoke leather seats. Whether you should be paying Asus’ listed asking price is another matter. You’ll get close-enough performance for far, far less money, and that makes it incredibly hard to justify.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop: An upcoming graphics card from the Blackwell family for laptops, which Team Green will most likely present at CES 2025. We assume that it will be based on GB205 chip, with 5,888 active unified shaders (CUDA cores).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop: The GeForce RTX 5090 Mobile uses the GB203 chip and utilizes 10,496 shaders / CUDA cores of the maximum 10,752 that the chip has. This makes the RTX 5090 Laptop more similar to the RTX 5080 desktop variant (same chip) than the Desktop RTX 5090 with 20,760 cores and higher clock rates.
