The Asus ExpertBook B9 is the world’s lightest business laptop, and it has impressive build quality and plenty of office features. Combine that with the decent screen, battery life and keyboard and you’ve got a great productivity option. Look elsewhere, though, if you want more CPU power, a sleeker screen or a better-looking laptop.

The ASUS Expertbook B9400 is a first-class business laptop that stands out from the multitude of enterprise notebooks out there on the market. Its ultra-portable form factor is an appealing draw on its own, but the laptop truly shines with its battery life and performance. ASUS has also peppered it with some truly desirable features like a physical shutter/kill switch for the webcam, a virtual numeric keypad on the touchpad, Windows Hello support, and more to make it an unequivocal ultrabook recommendation.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to updating this preview to a proper review if we get our hands on a retail model and can run our full set of tests on it. In the meantime, though, I’d like to hear your thoughts on this series and how it stacks against the ZenBooks and the competition in the business segment, so please get in touch down below.

On the surface, the ASUS ExpertBook B9 might seem like a pretty standard refresh to the ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9450). But on top of offering an upgrade to the 11th Gen Intel Core processor, it does pack quite a few extra improvements this generation. There’s the ASUS AdaptiveLock proximity sensor to improve privacy, AIPT for better performance in burstier workloads and a brighter display, all of which come together to result in an even better laptop than its predecessor, which we awarded the Best Ultraportable Laptop of 2020.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.
Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.
78.4%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
