Asus ExpertBook B9: Ultra light comes at a price
Our $1800 dollar Asus ExpertBook B9 reached an excellent battery life of over 16 hours in our practical Wi-Fi test. That easily covers two working days or a weekend away without a power supply. Despite the relatively large 66-Wh battery, the weight of the device is under one kilogram. That's great news for people who carry their laptop around all day and makes handling it much easier. To be honest, we were quite surprised by what a difference those 100 grams less really made.
On top of its excellent portability, Asus has also ensured that this business device with its particularly compact build is resistant to shock, drops and pressure according to MIL-STD 810G standards. This is thanks to the magnesium lithium alloy of which the matte black case is made. The display is just as pleasing with its 99 percent sRGB color space coverage, 0.12 cd/m² black value and 2450:1 contrast ratio.
SSDs can be exchanged, RAM cannot
The port selection covers the basics and can easily be expanded thanks to the two Tunderbolt 3 ports, one of which can also be used for recharging. Apart from an HDMI port, Asus also offers GigabitLAN by including a microHDMI-to-LAN adapter at delivery. On the inside, users will be pleased to find two very accessible SSD slots, both of which are connected to a 1-TB Samsung SSD in our test configuration.
The RAM module, on the other hand, is soldered on and users will have to choose between 8 or 16 GB at purchase. There are several CPU options available, however. The version in our test unit, the Intel Core i7-10510U, does an average job at reaching its potential and is suitable for a variety of office applications. The graphics performance is limited by the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620.
