Apple announced the 2016 refresh to its 12-inch MacBook laptop today. On top of the update to Intel Skylake processors, the company also unveiled a new, rose gold color version of the notebook.
The 12-inch Apple Macbook 2016 comes with sixth-generation dual-core Intel Core m3-6Y30 running at 1.1 GHz (up to 2.2 GHz with Turbo Boost), Core m5-6Y54 (1.2 GHz to 2.7 GHz) and Core m7-6Y75 (1.3 GHz to 3.1 GHz) processors, along with 8 GB of 1866 MHz DDR memory. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 515 GPU, according to Apple, provides up to 25% more graphics performance when compared to previous generation GPU’s.
The new MacBooks carry USB 3.1 Type-C ports as well as 2304 x 1400 resolution Retina displays, ForceTouch trackpads and fanless design. The 41.4 Wh battery is reportedly enough for up to 10 hours of wireless web browsing within OS X El Capitan operating system. At 0.52 inches of thickness, the machine weighs 0.92 kg.
The Core m3 version comes with 256 GB of SSD storage and can be bought at $1299, while the Core m5 version features 512 GB of SSD and has been priced at $1599. The Core m7 variant can be configured-to-order with both storage versions but the price remains undisclosed at this point (probably around $1749).
MacBook is available through Apple.com starting today, and in select Apple Authorised Resellers starting tomorrow (April 20th).
