Apple releases iPadOS 15.4 to numerous iPads with Universal Control support, enhancements and bug fixes
Apple has released iPadOS 15.4 across multiple iPads, arguably one of the biggest updates for Apple's tablets this year. For reference, Apple has distributed iPadOS 15.4 to all iPad Pro models, plus the iPad Air 2, iPad 5th generation and iPad mini 4 or later. Generally, iPadOS 15.4 will be a 1.1 GB download, although file sizes may vary between devices.
As we have discussed previously, iPadOS 15.4 introduces Universal Control to iPads, allowing them to share their keyboard and mouse with a Mac. Additionally, Universal Control allows you to type text on either an iPad or a Mac and transfer files between them. You can see how Universal Control works via the video below or in our article on Universal Control from earlier this year.
Moreover, iPadOS 15.4 enables new emojis on iPads, along with the ability to initiate SharePlay sessions from supported apps. Incidentally, Siri can now provide time and date information while offline on an iPad Pro with an A12Z Bionic or Apple M1 chipset. Furthermore, Apple has included numerous bug fixes and enhancements for various iPads, such as the option to adjust volume controls orientation as you rotate your iPad. Specifically, Apple has included the following enhancements and bug fixes:
- Volume controls can be set to adjust as you rotate your iPad, on iPad (5th generation and newer), iPad mini (4th and 5th generation), iPad Air 2, iPad Air (3rd and 4th generation), and iPad Pro

- Safari webpage translation adds support for Italian and Chinese (Traditional)
- Podcasts app adds episode filters for seasons, played, unplayed, saved, or downloaded episodes

- Camera in keyboard can be used to add text to Notes and Reminders
- Shortcuts adds support for tags in Reminders; add, remove, or query tags when creating and editing Shortcuts
