According to an Apple insider who has been in touch with the publication iPhoneSoft, there appears to be some excellent news for those who are still using their old iPhones, all the way back to 2018's iPhone XR. According to the report, the iPhone XR, and every other iPhone that held onto iOS 18, will crash the iOS 19 party next year as well.
Now, of course, there is a somewhat negative aspect to this piece of news. With no iPhones dropping off the compatibility cliff next year, it appears to indicate that the upcoming annual iOS update will be a strictly iterative one. The iPhone XR, for instance, sports only 3 GB of memory, which, to be perfectly honest, was rather modest even in 2018. That said, considering that WWDC 2025 is still over half a year away, the possibilities are still well up in the air.
The iPhones that support iOS 18, and are now expected to support iOS 19, have been listed below:
- iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max
- iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR
- iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
