Apple Arcade has been given a substantial expansion, the Cupertino giant has announced. The gaming subscription service has added over 30 titles taking the total number of games available on the US$5/month service to over 180 titles. The company has added a number of brand new titles while also adding two new categories called "Timeless Classics" and "App Store Greats".
Among the new titles that have been added include NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition (2K Games), Simon’s Cat: Story Time (Tactile Games Limited), Star Trek: Legends (Tilting Point), The Oregon Trail (Gameloft), Cut the Rope Remastered (Paladin Studios) and SongPop Party (Gameloft). As with all Arcade games, Apple points out that these games can all be played offline and don’t come with any in-app purchases.
The new "Timeless Classics" section includes games that have been popular not only on the App Store, but over decades in some cases. These include games like Good Sudoku (Zach Gage), Really Bad Chess (Zach Gage), Backgammon (Adikus), Solitaire (MobilityWare), and Tiny Crossword (PlaySimple Games). The new "App Store Greats" section includes titles like Monument Valley (ustwogames), Mini Metro (Dinosaur Polo Club), Threes! (Sirvo), Fruit Ninja Classic (Halfbrick Studios), and Chameleon Run.
Apple offers a free 1-month trial of Apple Arcade before the monthly subscription fee kicks in. The games can be played across all of Apple’s platforms including the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
