Apple has released a new version of visionOS, its equivalent of iOS or iPadOS for the new Vision Pro. It fixes the ultra-premium headset's famous passcode bug, by which a unit might have even required a trip back to the Apple Store to be unlocked. Nevertheless, its new ability does not compromise its security.

Apple's new Vision Pro is now officially the best way to show the world that you inhabit a very different kind of reality. Then again, it has certain potential drawbacks, not the least of which are the consequences of forgetting the $3,499.99 headset's passcode.

Forgetting said passcode can lock a user out of the device, a situation reportedly requiring fixes such as bringing the device back to an Apple Store to have it unlocked there. The only alternative to this measure has reportedly been an additional purchase of a $300 Vision Pro Developer Strap to connect it to a Mac.

Now, however, Apple has addressed this discrepancy with visionOS 1.0.3 for the Vision Pro. It adds the option to wipe the device on the use of the wrong passcode 4 times, which allows the user to reset the device personally.

On the other hand, the headset's Activation Lock to a given user's Apple ID remains in place, which renders the Vision Pro no more of a theft risk than before. visionOS 1.0.3 is also rated to apply additional "important", yet unspecified, bug-fixes.
