In 2018, Apple released the first MacBook Air. Equipped with up to an Intel Core i5 processor and only available with a 13.3-inch Retina display, it received an update to Intel Core i7 and a few other improvements (such as Bluetooth 5.0 compared to Bluetooth 4.2 in its elder sibling) in 2020. Apple's M1 chip arrived in 2020 as well on the MacBook Air, which was succeeded by the M2 processor two years later. The latest MacBook Air with an M2 inside arrived this June, and now it is already available on Amazon with noticeable discounts.
Before moving on, it should be mentioned that all four color choices, namely Midnight, Silver, Space Gray, and Starlight get the same US$250 discount. The model with 8 GB unified memory and 256 GB storage drops from US$1,299 to US$1,049 while the one with 8/512 GB drops from US$1,499 to US$1,249. The 16 GB models with 1 TB and 256 GB internal storage get no discounts, but the 16/512 GB configuration is down by US$250 and it can be acquired for US$1,449 instead of US$1,699.
This summer, the Apple MacBook Air 15 with M2 processor and 16 GB/1 TB unified memory/storage visited our labs for an in-depth review and managed to impress. The final score was an excellent 92%, with perfect scores in multiple areas, such as application performance, noise, pointing device, and battery. The only scores below 80% were obtained for weight, connectivity, camera, and gaming performance.
