Anbernic RG477V gets a new launcher and control center via latest update

It has been almost five months since the Anbernic RG477V was released. The vertical handheld has now received a major update that is described as a “total overhaul of the software” which should make the user experience much better.
Among the key features is a new frontend called RG Home that blends the Android desktop interface with a dedicated gaming frontend. The new interface allows users to navigate using both touch and physical buttons. It also adds the ability to create folders, hide apps, and lock apps. In addition, users can easily switch between tiles and grid for app icons under layout settings by pressing the L2 button.
A press of the R1 button will switch to the game interface, where users can browse their game library either by platforms using the left thumbstick, or based on categories using the right thumbstick. There is also support for syncing your data (play records and favorites) between devices, by signing into your Anbernic account. Another feature mentioned is the ability to choose a preferred RetroArch core before launching a game.
The update brings a new RG Control Center that can be activated from the Quick Settings menu. When activated, users can swipe from the right side of the screen to bring up the control center. The control center provides access to the Performance monitor, Quick Settings, Controller settings, Key mapping, and Handheld settings. With the new RG Control Center, users can quickly modify performance settings, fan controls, connectivity settings, refresh rate, controls, and RGB lights.
The new update has added a button mapping system that allows users to customize controls for various games including mobile ones. They will also be able to save game control profiles and switch between them in the middle of gameplay using the RG Control Center
Anbernic says it has designed the new software in a way that the new RG Home interface and RG Control Center can be updated independent of the main operating system. The new update is available to download now on the RG477V. It arrives as version 1.38 and is less than 100MB in size.
