Zepp Health has released a new update for the Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatch. Version 3.16.6.1 arrives around a month after the last update, version 3.16.0.3, which brought a new Ultramarathon workout mode.
Also known as the Amazfit Balance 2 OTA 3.1 update, software version 3.16.6.1 includes two improvements linked to the Helio Strap fitness tracker (curr. $99.99 at Amazon). Upon pairing the Helio Strap, users can now view its status on the watch. Plus, when connected to the Helio Strap or another heart rate tracking band, there is a new source indicator icon for your workout heart rate.
The third change with the version 3.16.6.1 update is refreshed for the on-watch post-workout experience, which is said to be “smoother and more natural”. You can find the complete release notes from a Reddit user's screenshot below. A notable absence from this release is the hotly anticipated BioCharge, an energy monitoring metric that is currently only available for the Helio Strap. Several weeks ago, a representative for the brand explained that Zepp Health was still working on the smartwatch version of this function.
Typically, Amazfit pushes updates initially to customers in the US, Italy and Canada, with other users globally getting the release within a few weeks. You will be able to install the update via the Zepp Health app (minimum version 9.11.0).
