80% Acer Swift Go 16 review: Premium performance for a decent price
Source: Laptop Mag English
Maintaining a solid price point while offering premium performance isn’t easy, and the Acer Swift Go 16 further drives its excellence with a colorful panel, solid battery life, and decent speakers. While its panel could benefit from an increase in brightness, alongside its aluminum chassis feeling a tad thin in areas, it does more than enough to be worth its $1,199 price point. And if you’re a sucker for storage (and don’t want to have to open up a laptop to increase space yourself), it can be built with up to 8TB of SSD storage. If you want a 16-inch productivity laptop as an alternative, the Asus Zenbook S16 is an absolute killer. Otherwise, the Acer Swift Go 16 is still fantastic.

70% Acer Swift Go 16 (2024) Review
Source: PC Mag English
The 2024 Acer Swift Go 16 is one of the better-performing under-$1,000 laptops we've seen, a worthy desktop replacement for office productivity and modest creative tasks. Its main drawback is the ready availability of somewhat pricier but more desirable models with dazzling OLED screens and better keyboards. (We're quite fond of the Editors' Choice Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch.) However, the Swift Go's benchmark and battery scores promote it from a 3-star to a 3.5-star rating.

Intel Arc 8-Core: Integrated graphics adapter based on the Xe LPG architecture (similar to the dedicated Arc GPUs, but with a focus on efficiency). Provides all 8 Xe cores (128 Xe vector engines) and 8 ray tracing units.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Ultra 9 185H: The top-of-the-line Meteor Lake chip that debuted in December 2023. This 1st Gen Core Ultra processor has come to replace 13th generation Core chips; it has 16 cores (6 + 8 + 2) and 22 threads at its disposal. Its Performance cores, of which there are 6, run at up to 5.1 GHz while its Efficient cores, of which there are 10 (8 main cores plus 2 extra ones found in the Low Power Island) run at up to 3.8 GHz. The 8-core Arc GPU, just out of the oven, serves as the integrated graphics adapter - this runs at up to 2.35 GHz - and there is a bevy of other brand-new technologies on offer as well such as the integrated AI Boost NPU with two Gen 3 engines for hardware AI workload acceleration. vPro Enterprise and business-centric features such as the Remote Platform Erase are onboard as well. This laptop processors's "base" power consumption is 45 W, while its Turbo power consumption is not supposed to go over 115 W.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

16.00":

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.

Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.

75%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
