The Acer Predator Triton 17X is an incredibly capable 17-inch gaming laptop benefiting from the tremendous power of its Intel i9-13900HX CPU and RTX 4090 GPU. But that’s not all… this laptop is also as tough as nails, has an excellent port selection, and an absurdly fine QHD+ mini-LED display with 240Hz refresh rate.

One thing can be said for sure. This notebook is extremely powerful. However, we have to say two very important things. First – its RTX 4090 (175W) doesn’t really run at 175W – more like 140W. And second – it performs more like an RTX 4080 (175W) – the one we saw in the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 (16″, 2023). What is really important in the case of the Predator Triton 17X is its overly complex build. In order to achieve such a thin chassis, Acer has flipped the motherboard upside down, flatted every possible surface, and contacted the College of Winterhold. It is accessed by both the NVIDIA driver and within BIOS. Interestingly, Acer has omitted such a function from the Predator Sense app – similar to the Nitro series, where you could only enable it through BIOS.

This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
