Optional, manual setting options are always a boon, allowing experienced gamers to take full advantage of all the possibilities, while beginners don't have to do that. In contrast to the Schenker models that are exemplary in this regard, Acer even offers two presets for steps of overclocking the processor in the Predator Helios.
The Extreme mode increases the TDP of the CPU to a constant 120 watts, and the Turbo mode maximizes the overclocking possibilities. The latter can be activated using a special key, making it extremely easy for the user to activate or deactivate via button press depending on their needs, even during the game.
Particularly the CPU multi-thread performance is already very good in the Extreme mode, and in The Witcher 3, the RTX 3070 Ti then also strikes a powerful figure with its guaranteed 150 watts. On the other hand, of course you also have to expect the usual disadvantages in the overclocking modes. Our detailed test of the Acer Predator Helios 300 PH17 will tell you exactly what those are.
