They offer stunning displays, gobs of power and a very flexible display you can use in multiple modes along with an integrated digital pen. The $2,699 starting price seems steep, but the 16-inch MacBook Pro starts as $2,399 and the model with a Core i9 chip and more powerful AMD Radeon graphics goes for $2,799. And you can simply do a lot more with the ConceptD 7 Ezel. We will bring you a full review as soon as we can get our hands on a unit.

Acer has adapted that architecture to its new 15-inch Concept D 7 Ezel and Ezel Pro additions in its line of products intended for creatives, announced at CES 2020.

Targeting architects, engineers and creative professionals, such as music producers and video editors, the ConceptD 7 Pro bursts at the seams with power thanks to an Intel Core i7 processor and a graphics card from Nvidia’s powerful Quadro line. Throw in a pair of lightning-fast SSDs and a gorgeous 4K panel in an equally attractive chassis, and this might be the best creator-class laptop of the year. That is, if it does well when we get a chance to test a production model.

Archive.org versionThe ConceptD 7 Ezel is… well, in a word, it’s awesome. But you don’t need me to tell you that you don’t need to spend $4,000 to get an awesome device. If you want a touchscreen convertible with stylus support and can live without quite this much processing power, devices like the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 and the HP Spectre x360 15 are half the price of this device, more portable, and also have outstanding screens. The Spectre’s screen doesn’t literally fold over the keyboard, but it’ll work for many of the same use cases. And even for those who want this particular form factor, the smaller ConceptD 3 Ezel will be a more practical purchase. The ConceptD 7 Ezel is for those who need serious power.

Archive.org versionThe Acer ConceptD Ezel 7 is a great laptop to buy if you find yourself entranced by the idea of its Wacom EMR stylus, clever hinge system and a display surface that feels better than the compeititon for stylus use. I haven’t used a laptop that feels better prepared for pro or enthusiast digital art, illustration or design work. But other parts of the laptop could be better. At this point we’re dealing with a last-generation CPU and GPU, the speakers are poor and the fan noise is often too prominent.

The Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel got “refreshed,” but I was hoping for more. When you “refresh” yourself after strenuous physical activity, you likely splash cold water on your face, drink some Gatorade, and shake off any residual feelings of lethargy, right? Nothing too extensive — just quenching your thirst before hopping back into the game. Don’t kid yourself, though! Sometimes, those electrolytes aren’t enough. All that huffin’ and puffin’ signals that you’re out of practice; you need to strengthen every muscle in your body to become a worthy competitor. The same can be said for laptops. Sure, some just need a few updated internals and they’re good to go. Others, however, require more. The ConceptD 7 Ezel falls into that category — and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Unlike many scared-to-innovate OEMs (ahem, Microsoft and Apple), I respect that Acer launched a pro-creator masterpiece with a sexy pull-forward display that can transform into easel-esque angles. Flubs from risky projects like the ConceptD 7 Ezel are bound to occur.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.

NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 (Laptop): Professional high-end laptop graphics card based on the TU104 chip with 3,072 shaders and 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM. Compared to the desktop variant, the GPU is clocked lower. There are different versions available with 110 Watt (1035 - 1545 MHz) and 150 Watt (1350 - 1770 MHz) in addition to the even lower clocked Max-Q variant.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q: High-End laptop graphics card based on the TU104 chip with 3,072 shaders. Runs at reduced clock speeds compared to a laptop RTX 2080 Super to achieve a much lower power consumption. The TGP is specified between 80 and 90 Watts with different clock speeds.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q: High-End laptop graphics card based on the TU106 chip with 2,304 shaders and 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM. Offers reduced clock speeds to achieve a much lower power consumption.
These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU: High-End laptop graphics card based on the Ampere GA104 chip. At the time of the launch in early 2021, the 3080 is the fastest laptop graphics card on the market.

Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++). The Intel Xeon W-10885M supports the management features vPro, TXT and SIPP and is the professional version of the Intel Core i9-10885H.
i7-10750H: A high-performance hexa-core processor designed for use in thicker laptops with room for better thermals. The Comet Lake-H processor is manufactured on the third-gen 14 nm Intel process and features a 24 EU UHD Graphics 630 iGPU clocked at 350 MHz to 1,150 MHz. The CPU cores run at 2.6 GHz (base clock speed) Boosting up to 5.0 GHz and the likely all-core Boost frequency is 4.3 GHz. Hyper-Threading is enabled, allowing two threads to run simultaneously on each core.

Intel Tiger Lake:
i7-11800H: Tiger Lake (H45 series) based high end octa-core SoC for gaming laptops and workstations. The eight CPU cores run at 2.3 GHz to 4.6 GHz. The integrated UHD Graphics GPU offers 32 EUs at up to 1.45 GHz. The chip is manufactured on the second-gen 10 nm Intel SuperFin process.
