So when you combine all this into a single package for an MSRP of $614.99 and regular updates until June 2029, you quickly see why I feel this is one of the more-compelling Chromebooks available right now. You get great mobility out of the thin/light chassis and high productivity with the large screen and power under the hood. With the ability to last all day on a charge, convert into tablet and stand modes, and do all of it without making a sound, I can see the Spin 513 fitting into many user workflows over the coming months. I have other Chromebooks to review for the next little bit, but I can assure you the Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is high on my list of devices that will be in my backpack the next time things settle down in my review schedule.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 provides a compelling balance of performance and battery life. It’s neither the fastest Chromebook you can buy nor the longest-lasting, but it’s a Chrome OS 2-in-1 that doesn’t force you to compromise. The laptop had few outright weaknesses, with a build quality that was good enough given the $616 price, a really nice display, and an attractive if somewhat plain aesthetic. It’s a great option for anyone in the market for a Chrome OS 2-in-1.

t's not difficult to work out the most compelling features of the Acer Chromebook Spin 513: it's reasonably affordable, it's lightweight, and it has a screen that can fold right over into a variety of positions. If those are the features that you've been looking for, and you think that Chrome OS (with a side helping of Android apps) is able to take care of all your computing needs, then this laptop is worth some serious consideration. Overall the Acer Chromebook Spin 513 looks good, works well, and is competitively priced compared with other models – and speaking of the price, you more or less get what you pay for. With the 16:9 screen that bends right back, it's particularly good for watching movies and TV shows – and we'd recommend this mostly to people who want to sit back and watch some top-notch content on the go.

During Lockdown and afterwards I spent a lot of time online with Webinars and various Zoom and various other online meetings both work and friend related, far too often people were moaning about the times they could not get into group simply because Windows was spending ages upgrading, other were getting problems with bandwidth for various unconnected reasons. The polite version from many was I am going to get a Chromebook as they do what you want.

As the sum of its parts, the Acer Spin 513 is an impressive deal for most Chromebook users. If you need a Chromebook for school or basic browsing and media consumption, this is a solid option to consider. The display is excellent for the price, you get a nice backlit keyboard, glass trackpad, and an ultra-portable design. Battery life is also excellent in practice, making this a great machine for school or for use while traveling. There’s no doubt that in terms of value, this is one of Acer’s best Chromebooks. On the other hand, enthusiasts and power users should probably stay away from this laptop. Performance is bad enough that you’ll be disappointed if you need to perform demanding tasks with your Chromebook. There are devices at this price point with better performance, but they’re also missing some of the extras I mentioned earlier. If you can’t live with that tradeoff, you might need to spend a few extra bucks to get a more premium Chromebook like the Galaxy Chromebook 2.

The Chromebook Spin 513 is a good Chromebook and it has an attractive price to go with its stylish design, good battery life, and plenty of flexibility. But the Snapdragon just isn’t as good as you can find in competing Chromebooks powered by Intel at this price point.

The Chromebook Spin 513 won’t be for everyone. But it’s certainly the device it set out to be — a long-lasting, portable machine for light workloads — and if you’re shopping in the $399 range, it’s certainly worth a look.

There are very few Chromebooks that give you such good hardware for so little money. With an excellent screen, a solid keyboard and a great trackpad, the outer package of the Spin 513 earns it’s asking price. While the speed of the Snapdragon 7c isn’t amazing, it isn’t a deal breaker at this price at all. With so many users happy with the Lenovo Chromebook Duet, I think the same value proposition applies with this Spin 513. With a very approachable price tag, users will get a great overall Chromebook for the money, enjoying perks not usually present in affordable devices. Because of this, I can easily recommend the Spin 513 if you are after a thin, light, ultra-portable Chromebook and aren’t after break-neck speeds. It’s a solid laptop for the money and I’m hopeful that over time, the Snapdragon 7c gets some kinks ironed out and gets far better with Chrome OS and Android applications across the board.

Acer has crafted a competitive Chromebook in the Spin 513, which slots into the middle of the market and has plenty of fight in it to take on other Chromebooks. It boasts a good display, a solid keyboard and trackpad combo, and excellent battery life. A few small things hold it back from true greatness, but you'll find few Chromebooks that offer as many features and as much value at this price point.

The first Chromebook with the Snapdragon 7c processor is a lightweight laptop in every sense of the word. While the battery will last you all day with ease and the screen looks good, the processor is a little lackluster, with Acer focusing more on efficiency than raw power.

Long battery life and the lightweight chassis make the Acer Spin 513 a good option for road-warriors or those with long commutes. A few glitches mean its stablemates might be a better choice.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
