Earlier this year, ASUS announced the Vivobook 16X OLED and Vivobook 17X OLED, alongside numerous other Vivobook products. For some reason, the company began offering the Vivobook S 14X OLED and Vivobook S 16X OLED in June but has waited until October to bring the Vivobook 16X OLED and Vivobook 17X OLED to market. Regardless, both models are now available in Europe, starting from €799.
Unfortunately, the price above appears to be a theoretical MSRP for now. Currently, the cheapest Vivobook 16X OLED configuration sells for €999 with an Intel Core i7-12700H, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Alternatively, the Vivobook 16X OLED and its 17-inch sibling come in AMD Ryzen 5 5600H or Ryzen 7 5800H variants, each with 45 W TDPs. For reference, Intel variants have no Thunderbolt advantage in either Vivobook model; ASUS only includes a 5 Gbit/s USB Type-C port, as well as two USB Type-A ports that operate at the same speed. Additionally, both laptops feature HDMI, a proprietary charging port and one USB 2.0 Type-A port.
Arguably, the most exciting element of both Vivobook machines is the OLED display. Strangely, while the Vivobook 16X OLED contains a more modern 16:10 display, ASUS relegates the Vivobook 17X OLED to using the older 16:9 standard. Accordingly, the smaller model has a higher resolution panel as well, with a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel panel in the Vivobook 16X OLED compared with a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel one in the Vivobook 17X OLED. You can find out more about both laptops on ASUS' corresponding Vivobook 16X OLED and Vivobook 17X OLED product pages.
