ASUS just introduced the 65W USB-C GaN Charger (model AC65-05) in the Indian market. For those who own multiple USB-C devices (especially laptops), this charger could serve as one single solution for all of them.
The 'pocket-sized' charger features dual USB Type-C ports. It utilizes Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, which provides improved electrical efficiency and reduces heat buildup compared to traditional silicon-based chargers. ASUS' 'Smart Load Balancing' tech optimizes power distribution between the connected devices.
Delivering up to 65 watts of power, the charger claims to charge a phone battery to 50% in just 30 minutes. It includes a 1.5-meter USB-C-to-USB-C cable. As the smallest charger in the ASUS lineup, the 65W USB-C GaN Charger is being marketed as 'ultra-compact' and 'lightweight'. ASUS says that the charger's design won't block other chargers while connected to the same socket panel - a problem bigger chargers face.
The charger claims to have undergone stringent quality testing, including a 3000-cycle cable bend test and a 10,000-cycle insert-and-removal test, ensuring it is built to last. A built-in E-Marker chip ensures fast-charging compatibility with various devices.
The ASUS 65W USB-C GaN charger is priced at 2,799 INR/$33/€30. It will go up against fast chargers like UGREEN's 65W charger, which also features a slim form-factor and is $55 on Amazon. The Lenovo ThinkPlus 65W GaN charger is another solid contender.
The charger is listed on the ASUS online Indian store, but all units seem to have been sold out. Those interested can sign up to get notified via email when it comes back in stock.
