Asus confirms AMD Radeon 880M is 15% faster than Radeon 780M in Time Spy
During the AMD Tech Day, the company detailed the Radeon 890M of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. As per the information revealed, the top-end RDNA 3.5 iGPU can deliver anywhere between 19% to 32% better performance than the Radeon 780M, which is based on RDNA 3 architecture.
With the launch of Asus Strix Point laptops in China, we now got to know about the expected performance jump of the other RDNA 3.5 iGPU, the Radeon 880M. This variant is available inside the Ryzen AI 9 365, and it features 12 CU cores. While the core count is similar to the Radeon 780M, Asus shares that the newer architecture brings a performance boost.
More specifically, the Radeon 880M of Strix Point APUs is said to deliver 15% better performance than the Radeon 780M on 3DMark Time Spy. Asus has also compared the RDNA 3.5 iGPU with a Nvidia RTX 3050 40W. In the same benchmark, the discrete GPU is only 23% ahead.
For this level of performance, Asus says that its ZenBook S16 (preorder on Best Buy) and other upcoming laptops with Ryzen AI 9 365 can smoothly run many AAA games. Another thing worth noting is that AMD RDNA 3.5 is focused on bringing improved performance to low-powered devices. So, after the first wave of laptops is out, we may see brands introducing Stix Point mini PCs that are capable of offering great gaming performance.
