Affordable AM5 motherboards could be imminent as several GIGABYTE and ASUS A620 motherboards have visited the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). Additionally, some of these boards have also been listed for sale on the Chinese e-commerce site Goofish. The appearance of wallet-friendly AM5 boards is welcome since there is no true budget option among the currently available products.

AMD released the Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 CPUs last year. Although the processors brought big performance increases over previous-gen Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 chips, they are difficult to get into owing to their requirement for an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory. AMD announced during its Zen 4 reveal event that budget AM5 boards will start at US$125, but they are nowhere to be found. At the time of writing, the cheapest AM5 motherboard on Newegg is the US$160 GIGABYTE B650M DS3H.

Now, a handful of unreleased GIGABYTE and ASUS A620 AM5 motherboards have stopped by the EEC prompting speculation that the cheap AM5 boards may finally start appearing on store shelves. The motherboards include models like the GIGABYTE A620M D3H, the A620M DS3H, A620M S2H, etc.

To that effect, some A620M motherboards have been listed on the Chinese store Goofish (via VideoCardz). The boards look relatively affordable based on Goofish’s pricing. For instance, the ASUS TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS D5 is priced at an equivalent of US$118.

The lack of affordable AM5 motherboards has seemingly driven many consumers away from Zen 4 CPUs, as there is not a single Ryzen 7000 CPU in Amazon’s top ten best-selling processors. Instead, the top spot is occupied by the cheap Ryzen 5 5600G.

The story is similar at Newegg where, although the Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 7 7700X do make an appearance at the 4th and 5th place, the affordable Ryzen 5 7600X is relegated to the 11th spot meaning budget-conscious buyers are opting to go with the last-gen Ryzen chips, as the Ryzen 5 5600 and the Ryzen 7 5700X are the top two selling CPUs.

Sadly, we don’t know exactly when the new A620 boards will make it to the market. Whenever they do, combined with falling DDR5 prices, the cheaper motherboards will undoubtedly make it much easier to get started with the Zen 4 processors.
