AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX CPU sample spotted in the wild, might launch next week
AMD is getting ready to launch a few other processor lineups along with the new Ryzen 3000XT series of desktop CPUs. Back in May, there were some leaks about the Ryzen 7 Extreme Edition laptop APUs which are supposed to launch later this month and we have also been hearing about an improved Ryzen Threadripper PRO lineup. Apparently, some of these processor samples were recently pictured in a post on the Chiphell forum, but were immediately restricted. Luckily, twitter user 9550pro managed to take screen captures before the restrictions.
The Chiphell posts do not include any specs, just pictures of an alleged Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX CPU sample. Still, the guys over at Videocardz received an anonymous tip regarding a few specs for the TR PRO series, which would essentially bring the same benefits as the Ryzen PRO desktop versions for the AM4 socket.
Apart from the business and workstation focus, the TR PRO lineup will also borrow some server-oriented features from the Epyc lineup, including the addition of 8-channel memory support for up to 2 TB of RAM (non-PRO TR is limited to 4-channel and up to 256 GB of RAM). These improved features may require the introduction of a new socket, possibly the sWRX8 that was leaked in early 2019.
Rumored launch date for the Threadripper PRO lineup is July 14.
