Courtesy of a discount at Micro Center, the recently released Alienware 15 DA15265 gaming laptop is now available with a massive $900 discount, bringing its price down to just under $1,100.
This specific variant of the Alienware 15 gaming laptop comes equipped with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU and a decently powerful AMD Ryzen 7 260 "Hawk Point" APU. Memory and storage requirements are handled by 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and 512 GB of NVMe storage.

According to Tech Radar's review of the laptop, the 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 260 APU in the Alienware 15 performs just about as well as we'd expect it to, edging ahead of the Intel Core 7 240H by a few points. In simpler terms, most moderately-intensive, multi-threaded workloads should fly on this system without much hassle.
That said, Tech Radar's unit was equipped with a lower-end RTX 5050 GPU, while the variant on sale packs a much stronger RTX 5060 GPU with 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM. That said, the reviewers did not encounter any major performance issues with the slower GPU either, and were able to recommend it for some decent 1080p gaming.

Of course, there are a few major drawbacks to the laptop. First up, the single-channel memory leaves an empty slot for future upgrades (Corsair 16 GB DDR5 stick currently $230 on Amazon), but unsurprisingly holds back performance. Moreover, the laptop's SSD is also not among the fastest, but is definitely serviceable.
The 15.3-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS display features a 165 Hz refresh rate, which is excellent for fast-paced gaming. However, the panel covers only a meager 62% of the sRGB color gamut, which will lead to extremely disappointing color reproduction.
Further, the panel peaks out at 300 nits, which should be fine indoors but quite a hassle outdoors, especially on sunny days.
The I/O offer is quite decent, featuring:
- Dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with power delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 output
- USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port
- HDMI 2.1
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 3.5 mm audio jack
Other notable details of the laptop include a 720p front camera with 30 FPS video recording, dual 2 W stereo speakers, a Mediatek Wi-Fi 6 card, Bluetooth 5.2 support, and a 70 Wh battery.
At its current price on Micro Center, the Alienware 15 gaming laptop offers a decent package for budget-conscious folks who don't care a lot about display quality, but do care about multi-threaded performance and 1080p gaming.
