Just as promised, Verizon's first commercial 5G network is now live in the following four US cities: Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Houston, and Sacramento. On this occasion, a Houston resident named Clayton Harris who subscribed to the Verizon 5G Home service has become "the first 5G customer on the globe."

The 5G era has arrived thanks to the 5G Home service that Verizon Wireless has just unleashed upon parts of four US cities. The world's first commercial 5G network went live yesterday, just as promised. Clayton Harris is a Houston resident who became "first 5G customer on the globe," revealed Verizon in a press release.

According to the aforementioned press release, the 5G broadband internet service is now live for customers located in parts of Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Sacramento, and Houston. The early adopters of the service get the first three months for free, free white glove installation and gear, as well as early access to new services such as 5G mobility. In addition to these, they also get a free Google Chromecast Ultra or Apple TV 4K at installation, as well as free YouTube TV access for three months.

After the end of the free months, existing Verizon Wireless customers who own a qualifying smartphone plan will have to pay US$50 monthly for the 5G Home service, and the new customers and those who do not own a qualifying plan will pay US$20 more.

Are you one of those already using the service or at least one of the lucky ones living in an area with coverage who are still waiting for the 5G guys to install their new network? Let us know in the comments below.
