8BitDo reveals an Xbox-style controller with pro back paddle buttons
8BitDo has revealed a new Xbox-style wired controller. The gadget’s design is based on retro Xbox controllers, with features like the D-pad mimicking the original. The device has Ultimate Software, allowing you to customize your controller.
For example, you can apply custom button mapping or adjust the joystick and trigger sensitivity for greater precision. The software also allows you to create multiple controller profiles customized to a player or game.
The 8BitDo controller for Xbox has four built-in vibration motors for haptic feedback. The device also has two extra pro-level back paddle buttons for more control. On the back of the gadget is a 3.5mm headphone jack and microphone controls.
The device weighs 11.6 oz (330g), so it is slightly heavier than the Xbox wireless controller, which weighs 10.1 oz (287g). The controller measures 5.8 x 4.1 x 2.4-in (146.7 x 103.6 x 61.3 mm), which makes it similar in size to the Xbox wireless controller at 6 x 4 x 2.47-in (152.4 x 101.6 x 62.7 mm).
You can buy the controller in either black or white, and the gadget is compatible with Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, plus Windows 10 and above. You can pre-order the 8BitDo Ultimate Wired Controller for Xbox on Amazon for US$44.99 (~€41); the company expects to start shipping the devices on May 31.
