Tesla won't be delaying the 2025 Model Y facelift release in the US like it did with the Model 3 Highland refresh that launched in America months after its initial launch in China.

Tesla is lowering the price of the Model Y units in its US inventory for a reason, it seems, as it may open the 2025 Juniper refresh orders in North America as soon as this week. The Juniper launch in the US may thus happen in sync with China and Europe, where the 2025 Model Y release is set for March.

Over the weekend, the same insiders from the Austin Gigafactory who correctly predicted the week of the Model Y Juniper announcement a day before its order page went live in places like China and Australia, have now pegged the preorder start for North America.

When is the 2025 Model Y Juniper release date in the US?

  • January 24-27

Sources from the Giga Texas factory where the Model Y Juniper will be manufactured are now claiming that Tesla will open orders "within ten days," leaving Friday, January 24 or Monday, January 27, as the possible 2025 Model Y release dates in the US.

Tesla didn't announce the Model Juniper with a press release, but simply put up the ordering page on its Chinese website on Friday, January 10. The "within ten days" timeframe set from January 18 means that American Model Y fans may witness the Juniper launch by next Tuesday, leaving Friday, January 24, or the following Monday, as the potential release dates for the new Model Y facelift in the US.

Not the actual release, though, but rather opening up the 2025 Model Y Juniper orders on its US website, which will also reveal its price and eventual EPA range estimate. If the US preorders for the refresh start so soon after they went live in China, this would mean that Tesla plans for a concurrent Model Y Juniper release in China, Europe, and the US, just as rumored, and the Gigafactory in Berlin has already started mass production.

Such a massive rollout means that Tesla is not going to delay the 2025 Model Y release in the US the way it did with the Model 3 Highland launch schedule. The Model 3 refresh went on sale in China in October 2023, but arrived at US stores about three months after that. At the time, the dearth of Hardware 4.0 autonomous driving kits and the need to undergo crash tests were cited as reasons for the delay.

Now that Tesla equips all of its new vehicles with AI4 FSD hardware, about the only potential for a Juniper release delay in the US could be if Tesla launches it with 4680 battery packs and can't make enough of those to fulfil all Cybertruck and Model Y Juniper orders.

Given how Tesla has slashed Model Y inventory prices by up to $4,120, it is seemingly trying to clean up stock on the run-up to the Model Y Juniper release date that may be set for some time in March, just as in China, pending regulatory approvals and Juniper range tests by the EPA.
