Deal | Refurbished Amazon Kindle Scribe (2022) gets a discount huge enough to warrant skipping the newer model

Although Amazon released a new Kindle Scribe in October 2024, it still sells the 2022 model. Now, it is offering a pretty sweet deal on refurbished units of the Kindle Scribe (2022) that's enough to warrant skipping the newer model.

Described as Like- New, the refurbished Kindle Scribe (2022) has been tested and charged, while its software has been updated. Amazon also offers the same warranty as a new device, although it may come in a generic box and not the official retail packaging.

According to the listing, the refurbished model has a list price of $309.99 for the 16GB model which is $30 less than the price of a brand new model. However, for a limited time, Amazon is offering a 25% discount that brings down the price of the refurbished Kindle Scribe (2022) to $233.99.

Not only is it significantly cheaper than a brand new model by a wide margin, but its low price also makes it possible for us to recommend skipping it over the 2024 model. This is because Amazon updated the older Kindle Scribe with the software features of the newer model.

The updated software brings features such as AI notebook summarization which creates a summary of handwritten notes, and Refine writing, which converts hurriedly scribbled writing into a handwriting-like script font that is more legible. This refined note can still be edited and updated. There's also Active Canvas which lets users write directly on a book (purchased or side-loaded) while the text of the book automatically adjusts to create space for the note written.

So the only difference between the Kindle Scribe (2022) and the Kindle Scribe (2024) is the latter's new design and the fact that it comes with a revamped Premium Pen instead of a basic pen like the 16GB and 32GB versions of the Kindle Scribe (2022). Interestingly, the refurbished 16GB version of the Amazon Kindle Scribe (2022) comes with a Premium Pen.
