Tesla is trying to get rid of its stocked inventory of current Model Y vehicles however it can, while planning for the 2025 Juniper facelift launch.

Tesla is preparing for the Model Y Juniper refresh release not only in the markets where it can currently be ordered like China, but across the globe, too.

It has embarked on a promotional spree for inventory Model Y vehicles to clear up stock before it launches the facelift in places as disparate as the US and Japan, for instance.

In the US, inventory Model Y units have undergone a price cut of up to $4,120 for the top-end Performance trim, and range from $960 to $2,500 for the rest.

There are a number of Long Range Model Y AWD units in stock that are discounted by $2,500, which brings their price down to $47,490 before the $7,500 federal tax credit is applied, and with paid options like multi-coat paint jobs and the 20-inch Induction Wheels at that. For comparison, this particular setup costs $51,990 when configured out of inventory.

The party is even harder for the Model Y Performance version that goes from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, whose $53,490 price with the Quicksilver paint drops to $47,370 if purchased from inventory.

Tesla is already selling the Juniper in China, and has started mass production in Europe, so it won't be long before it announces the 2025 Model Y prices for the US.

When the tax credit is applied, though, the inventory Model Y starts from just $37,490 for the base trim now, which is a deal that may be hard to pass on even for those who are waiting on the Juniper refresh release in the US.

In Japan, Tesla has found another way to entice Model Y buyers before the Juniper facelift launch. Inventory vehicles there come with free Model Y Supercharging for five years, for instance, with the following caveats:

Customers who purchase a new Model Y in stock can use Superchargers free of charge for five years after delivery. To receive the benefit, new orders placed after January 1, 2025 must be delivered by March 31, 2025. Customers who are waiting for an order for a vehicle that was placed by December 31, 2024 and is not yet delivered will not be eligible for this campaign if they place a new order after January 1, 2025. This benefit is linked to your Tesla account and cannot be transferred to other customers or vehicles. Used vehicles and vehicles used for business purposes (taxi, ride sharing, delivery services, etc.) are not eligible for this campaign. Idle fees (excess charging time fees) incurred when a vehicle is left unattended after charging or during busy periods are not included in this benefit. This program may be changed or terminated without notice.

These are absolutely the same conditions that Tesla now adds to the free lifetime Supercharging offer on Foundation Series Cybertruck or Model S vehicle orders in the US.

Tesla is apparently bringing back the free Supercharging promos to toy around with when it wants to pad the quarterly sales numbers, and it even includes the Model Y in some markets. Unfortunately, the free Supercharging offers are now non-transferable to another owner or car, unlike similar promos Tesla ran in previous years.
