The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released the official range figures for the 2024 Lucid Air lineup, and the numbers seem to confirm its position as the undisputed leader in terms of electric range thanks to its stellar efficiency.
According to the official data, the base variant 'Pure' trim with rear-wheel drive achieves a commendable 137 MPGe and offers a range of 419 miles thanks to its 88 kWh battery pack. Note that this applies to the version with 19-inch wheels; larger wheels reduce the range noticeably. This model produces 430 hp from its single motor and starts from $69,000.
Moving up the lineup, we get the dual-motor all-wheel-drive 620 hp 'Touring' trim, which features a larger 92 kWh battery pack. Due to its dual-motor configuration, it has a lower economy of 133 MPGe and boasts a range of 411 miles. Moving further up, we get the 819 hp 'Grand Touring' trim, with a huge 112 kWh battery pack and an impressive range of 516 miles, significantly more than the dual-motor Tesla Model S's range of 402 miles. The 'Touring' and 'Grand Touring' trims of the Lucid Air start at $77,900 and $109,900 respectively.
Finally, the highest-end performance oriented 'Saphhire' trim, which produces a whopping 1234 hp from its triple-motor configuration achieves an economy of 105 MPGe but manages to boast a respectable range of 427 miles, thanks to its 118 kWh battery pack. In comparison, the Tesla Model S 'Plaid', with a range of 320 miles, falls significantly behind the Lucid Air 'Sapphire' in terms of range. However, the 'Sapphire' trim starts from an eye-watering $249,900, almost three times more than the Model S 'Plaid'.
