Deal | 128GB DDR5, RTX Pro 5000, 4TB SSD: Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 gets massive refurbished discount

The almost maxed-out ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 is now also available as a certified-refurbished laptop at Lenovo's official online store, which might result in a good deal for professional users or absolute enthusiats who can spend a big chunk of money on a new 16-inch workstation.

High-end mobile workstations rarely become affordable in the traditional sense, but Lenovo’s outlet store is currently offering a noteworthy discount for one of its most powerful 16-inch ThinkPads. The deal applies to a certified refurbished ThinkPad P16 Gen 3, which combines a flagship Intel CPU, a very fast Nvidia dGPU and a premium OLED display.

This configuration features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, 128GB of DDR5 RAM and a total of 4TB SSD capacity. Graphics are handled by the Nvidia RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell Laptop GPU with 24GB GDDR7 VRAM, which is a pretty clear indicator that this machine is aimed at workstation users rather than typical business laptop buyers or even gamers. Lenovo's official store lists the certified refurbished ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 for $7,529, but applying the coupon code "OUTLET10" in the cart brings the price down to a somewhat more acceptable $6,776. That is still huge amount of money for a new 16-inch laptop, but it is far below the five-figure prices that similarly equipped notebooks can hit these days.

The rest of the spec sheet also sounds great. The 16-inch touchscreen sports a 3200 x 2000 tandem OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, VRR support from 40 to 120Hz and a rated SDR brightness of 600 nits. The workstation also ships with Windows 11 Pro, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and a backlit keyboard with a number pad. Since this is a certified refurbished Lenovo laptop, buyers are not getting a factory-new retail device. However, Lenovo claims its certified refurbished machines have been professionally refurbished and tested for functionality. In any case, this deal for the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 includes a 1-year warranty.

ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 offers high AI performance but still has caveats

To make things clear, the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 is not a sensible purchase for most laptop shoppers. It is built for users who can actually make use of 24GB VRAM, a high-end workstation GPU, large memory capacity and a fast Intel processor. In our review of a different configuration, we praised the 16-inch machine for its great performance in AI workloads and found that Lenovo had made the chassis more portable than the previous generation.

There are still some important drawbacks to note. For instance, the RTX Pro GPU is limited to a 105-watt TGP, and the included 180W power adapter can be pushed hard when the CPU and GPU are both under sustained load. Overall, the refurbished ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 might still be a good choice for demanding professionals who are in the market for a very powerful mobile workstation from Lenovo’s business lineup and can accept the usual outlet-device caveats in exchange for a steep discount.
