Xiaomi launches new affordable outdoor security camera with dual lenses

Xiaomi has introduced a new security camera in China, the Outdoor Camera 4. Similar to the CW700S that the company launched in late 2024, the newer model has two 5 MP sensors, which have different focal lengths. One of them offers a close shot, while the other provides a wide view of the focused area.

It's worth noting that one of the sensors has a fixed mount, while the other is paired with a gimbal. The sensors are equipped with a total of 8 fill lights, and Xiaomi notes that this dual-camera setup allows the security camera to offer "ultra-clear" 3K video output.

Another notable highlight of the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 is the integrated full-color night vision mode. The company adds that the fill lights can automatically turn on when the camera detects human presence. It also comes with the IP66 water and dust resistance rating, which is said to make the unit capable of withstanding tough weather conditions.

Other than that, Xiaomi notes that the inside of the MJA1 security chip has multiple security certifications to offer all-around privacy and security. This chip also allows the security camera to detect customized objects and cars, and when it detects abnormal situations, the companion app can send instant alerts to the paired phones.

Among the other highlights is support for dual-band WiFi 6, sound and light alarm modes, and the ability to connect to NAS setups and cloud (Ugree NASync DXP2800 curr. $319.99 on Amazon). The launch price of the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 in China is CNY 299, around $42, and the company has yet to share global availability and pricing details.
