Xiaomi's next major iteration of its software for smartphones will be called HyperOS 3, according to a new leak. It might be based on Android 16, and debut on the OEM's upcoming 16 and 16 Pro flagships. The upgrade is projected to launch alongside its counterparts from other brands such as Oppo, Honor and Vivo relatively soon.

Xiaomi's latest skin for Android is called HyperOS 2.2, and is reportedly rolling out to smartphones such as the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, the Redmi Note 14 Pro (or Poco X7 for the global market) and those of the flagship 15 series.

The upgrade reportedly confers the OEM's latest Camera Interface (v6.0) on the devices, as well as improved control over any other Xiaomi-brand smart gadgets or appliances their owners might have. HyperOS 2.2 is also touted to impart the best mobile AI experience the manufacturer has delivered to date.

It might not have that long to make that boast already, as its successor might be hot on its heels. HyperOS 3 is now predicted to land in the third quarter of 2025 at the earliest, as might the next significant iterations of OPPO's ColorOS (v16); Vivo's OriginOS (v6) and Honor's MagicOS (v10).

Therefore, the launch of HyperOS 3 just might coincide with that of the Xiaomi 16 series, which might be here as soon as late September or early October 2025.
