Manufacturers have struggled to further innovate already lightweight gaming mouse designs. Still, Razer has made noteworthy changes to its new DeathAdder V4 Pro. While it bears a strong resemblance to the DeathAdder V3 Pro, the latest Razer mouse is even lighter at 56 grams (57 grams for the white colorway). The updated peripheral also introduces optical technology to its scroll wheel. However, the dongle, which supports low-latency 8000Hz connections, has undergone the most transformation.
The DeathAdder V4 Pro is available now in black and white at Razer's store for $169.99.
Despite the popularity of traditional mechanical keyboards, the DeathAdder V4 Pro fully embraces optical technology. For the first time in the brand's history, a scroll wheel benefits from smoother and more exact motion. Early reviews, including at Notebookcheck, find that the revamped Gen-4 optical switches below are surprisingly clicky.
Although most users will struggle to notice the difference, the new Razer mouse boasts a maximum DPI of 45,000. The elevated sensitivity is made possible by the upgraded Gen-2 optical sensor. Razer claims that esports pros will benefit from 99.8% resolution accuracy. Synapse 4 features, like Dynamic Sensitivity and Mouse Rotation, once again complement the DeathAdder V4 Pro.
The DeathAdder V4 Pro dongle is surprisingly flashy
The DeathAdder V4 Pro doesn't pretend to cater to casual gamers or office workers. Unfortunately, Bluetooth connectivity is not an option again. Still, without any RGB lighting and an unassuming appearance, the mouse may have appeal outside of gaming. The device's extended battery life also reduces the need for recharging. Razer advertises that the mouse will last up to 150 hours when a lower 1000Hz polling rate is active.
Since the new gaming mouse ships with an 8000Hz wireless dongle, the $169.99 price becomes a bit more palatable. The bulky accessory won't save much desk space, but now sports three LED lights. The indicators signal connection status, power levels, and active polling rate.
With a familiar right-handed ergonomic shape, the DeathAdder V4 Pro doesn't take many chances. Nevertheless, it employs larger PTFE feet on its bottom for rapid but precise gliding. Razer proudly notes that the mouse's shell utilizes 67% recycled plastics without compromising structural integrity.
