Microsoft’s recent rebranding and price hike announcement of its Game Pass subscription service has caused backlash among members, with many canceling their subscriptions, causing the cancellation page to buckle under traffic. However, there’s a silver lining for users still sticking to Game Pass.
While Game Pass Ultimate now costs $29.99 per month, a hefty 50% increase, Microsoft is offsetting the hike and bolstering the subscription service’s value by injecting over 90 new titles into Game Pass’ library across all three tiers, alongside the integration of Ubisoft+ Classics exclusively for Game Pass Ultimate members.
This add-on introduces 14 Assassin’s Creed games including Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, Assassin’s Creed Unity, along with other Ubisoft staples like Far Cry 3 and its Blood Dragon DLC, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, The Crew 2, Watch Dogs and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, all available on cloud PC and Xbox, pushing Game Pass Ultimate’s library to over 400 games. Furthermore, Game Pass Ultimate will feature more than 75 day-one releases annually and perks like Fortnite Crew.
Game Pass Essential, still priced at $9.99, will feature a rotating catalog of more than 50 games, cloud gaming, and in-game add-ons for multiplayer titles. New arrivals in Essential include Cities: Skylines Remastered, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Hades, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
Game Pass Premium, priced at $14.99, will allow players to access 200 games on console, PC, and cloud, with Xbox Game Studios titles arriving within a year after launch, except for Call of Duty. Premium features 40 new games, including Diablo IV, Against the Storm, Age of Mythology: Retold, Frostpunk 2, and more.
Ultimate will now feature all mainline Assassin’s Creed titles, including spin-offs, Far Cry 3, Rayman Legends, South Park: The Stick of Truth, alongside Skull and Bones.
Premium-exclusive previews include 9 Kings, Manor Lords, Terra Invicta on PC, and more. Early reactions have been mixed, with many decrying Game Pass Ultimate’s price jump as a “rip-off” for non-owners, yet members who’re sticking to the Ultimate Tier, despite the price bump, will get to enjoy a robust library of games.
