The flipping camera technology of the ZenFone series has delivered again, according to camera reviewers DxOMark. According to the French website, the ZenFone 7 Pro records better selfie videos than any other smartphone, although it cannot quite match the photo quality of the Huawei P40 Pro.

It has been a month since ASUS unveiled the ZenFone 7 Pro, albeit with limited availability. Its predecessor impressed with its innovative camera technology, and now DxOMark has determined that it is its 'top pick' for selfie videos.

The ZenFone 7 Pro has a 64 MP primary camera that ASUS complements with 12 MP ultra-wide and 8 MP telephoto sensors. However, DxOMark decided against taking the capabilities of these two sensors into its review, instead focussing on using the 64 MP sensor as a selfie camera.

According to DxOMark, the ZenFone 7 Pro takes slightly the best selfie videos than any smartphone that it has tested, including the Huawei P40 Pro. Apparently, the ZenFone balances colours well and strikes a good balance between capturing detail and image noise.

The P40 Pro pips the ZenFone on selfie photo quality though, albeit by 4 points. DxOMark claims that focusing, textures and bokeh effects are all done better on the P40 Pro, but the ZenFone does a great job overall. So, if you are on the lookout for a great selfie smartphone, then the ZenFone 7 Pro could be the smartphone of choice in 2020.
