Xiaomi is set to launch a new budget tablet shortly. The Redmi Pad 2 is geared to debut as a direct successor to last year's Redmi Pad, and has now been reviewed in hands-on videos before its official launches.
As posted on YouTube by Caio Siqueira, the Redmi Pad 2 sports an 11-inch 90 Hz 2.5K LCD. Under the hood of the new tablet is MediaTek's Helio G100 Ultra, said to be an overclocked version of the G99 on the first-gen Redmi Pad. Other features include a 9,000 mAh battery, 18 W charging, an 8 MP rear camera, and a 5 MP selfie snapper. All of those details were revealed in recent retail listings, and this new video just confirms them.
A separate video by TukEmperial affirms the presence of four speakers on the Redmi Pad 2, as well as up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. That is likely the top-spec configuration and is priced at R$ 1,300 in Brazil, or the equivalent of around US$225. Inside the Redmi Pad 2's packaging sits the tablet itself, a sim ejector tool, a charging brick, and a USB A to C cable.
Performance-wise, the Helio G100 Ultra in the Redmi Pad 2 performs adequately for a entry-level SoC. It records a total AnTuTu score of 400,476, with a 120,372 CPU score and a 66,579 GPU score. All of those numbers are within the same range as Helio G99-powered devices like the Samsung Galaxy A15 4G and Infinix Note 30 Pro on AnTuTu's official ranking, so it appears the Helio G100 Ultra isn't much of an upgrade on the three-year-old chipset.
